The 2007 AGM was Held at: St. John Ambulance H.Q.

Time. 1730 hrs for 1800 start

After a disastrous AGM with invitations going out to some 200 plus members present/past only a total of 15 people appeared and some left before the meeting started. (Comment by Brian Evill)

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT ( Mr. P.Steed ). Extract from minutes

Firstly I must thank Brian for arranging this meeting and St. John Ambulance for letting use the Waterlooville H.Q.

After the effort of contacting many members ( Past & Present ) the turnout was abysmal, I wonder sometimes why do we bother ? We, on the committee had known for sometime that the finances were unavailable to run the repeater for the current year (2007) and Brian took it on himself to send out a begging letter to all members ( past/present ) and telling the committee that unless we get sufficient funds to pay the rates PC would be removed from Sarah Robinson House GB3PC Home. ( at the time PC was off the air ).Thanks to G8UCY a replacement repeater was installed and worked extremely well.

Brian’s letter brought in quite a few donations (over 35) over the next 4 weeks and this meeting was arranged and EVERYBODY was informed by post…at great cost .We have had no Hon. Sec for ages so once again Brian covered when required.

The most unfortunate happening occurred this year which upset me and other Committee members was a letter from a Member saying that the Chairman (me) and the Committee were in breech of its duties to see that funds were not mismanaged by the purchasing lots of Radios equipment etc. Our Hon. Treasurer (Brian) was equally upset and wrote to the writer and produced all the evidence to prove “ the member had not been correct in his statement “ and that he had cast a slur on all the committee members. A reply was received from the aforementioned member stating that he would RESIGN his Life membership and does not want any contact from SRG in the future.

As for the outcome of the meeting regarding GB3PC, the general consensus of the members present is that PC must stay where it is and if it’s moved it will die….( as put by G8UCY ). It was agreed that David will put every effort into trying to find a way to lower our payments to PCC, by perhaps asking for Charity status from the Charities Commission..and if we get it appeal to the PCC charitable side to lower the rent. ( miracles do happen )

From the floor a member reiterated a suggestion he made at an earlier AGM of trolling the Call book and sending a letter to all amateurs within the Portsmouth PO **** post codes asking for support. Another member present said he had tried this method for the Southampton Repeater Group and it failed miserably. Various ideas were put forward as to the continuance of the PC repeater beyond 2008. One idea was dividing the cost of running the repeater by the number of members .e.g. 40 members @£11.00 each ,20 members @ £22.00eachetc.etc.

HON. SECRETARY ( James Linington 2E0 JEL). (Co-opted)

It will take me a little time to up date the membership list so please bear with me. For direct contact please use the following e-mail address (liningtonje@yahoo.co.uk ) It is very important for me to have as many members e-mail addresses as possible as we have no money to spare on stamps.

ACTING HON. TREASURER Brian Evill ( Awaiting a volunteer please)

Having been the Treasurer of the SRG since 1991/2I had already indicated to the committee that I would not stand for re-election.

As mentioned by the Chairman ( Chairman’s Report ) we were out of money so I wrote to all members asking for a Donation to keep the repeater on the air. I was pleasantly surprised by the result with over 35 members and 2 or 3 non-members donating. The group was also given an excellent raffle prize by our local Amateur Equipment supplier "Nevada". A name from the list of donators was drawn at the AGM/EGM and the winner collected his prize from the aforementioned emporium.

REPORT FROM OUR NEWLY ELECTED REPEATER KEEPER & LICENCE HOLDER NOV

( David Walker G8UCY )

At the end of May 2007 the licence for PC & PD lapsed and the reason given was “ the paperwork was not returned by the end of March” The paperwork was sent to the then Licence holder/ NOV. but for some reason was not sent back. The absence of the appropriate completed form caused Offcom to send a one month notice to the NOV to close PC/PD in April.

At the AGM not fully knowing the situation I agreed to apply to Ofcom for the transfer of the NOV to my licence. At the first contact with Ofcom I was informed of the situation which had arisen.

GB3PD off air since November 05. GB3PC notice to close April 07.

After some negotiation with Ofcom & visits to both repeater sites GB3PC shutdown list was updated & an email of my intentions was sent. The NOV is to be transferred to myself G8UCY in the next few days.

GB3PD the site is now unavailable I will move it back to the site @ GB3PC as soon as the paperwork is completed & approved by Ofcom.

Hardware:-

With what has happened time for hardware is at a premium, G8PGF & I will be working on both repeaters over the next few months, the new logic seemed to work well, full CTCSS will happen soon. Any comments via email to g8ucy@yahoo.co.uk would be gratefully received or in writing (on the back of a £10 note!!)

This site is now being updated by Paul G0VEP and Brian G3SSC and James 2E0 JEL on a regular basis so the older pages with information from 6 months ago or more will slowly be disappearing from this site soon. We aim to update at least one page per week, and regularly check pages for out of date information.
